How To Add A Custom Dictionary In Outlook?

Supposing you have created your own dictionary in some applications before, and now you want to import and apply your custom dictionaries in the Microsoft Outlook. How to configure it? This article will guide you to configure and add custom dictionaries into Microsoft Outlook easily. Actually Microsoft Outlook supports users add custom dictionaries, and the following steps will help you configure it quickly.

 

Add A Custom Dictionary In Outlook 2010/2013

Step 1: Click File > Options in Outlook 2010 / 2013.

Step 2: In the Outlook Options dialog box, click Mail from the left pane. And on the right pane under Compose messages, click the Spelling and Autocorrect button. See the following screen shot:

Step 3: In the Editor Options dialog box, click the Proofing in the left bar.

Step 4: In the When correcting spelling in Microsoft Office programs section, click the Custom Dictionaries button. See the following screen shot:

Step 5: In the Custom Dictionaries dialog box, click the Add button.

Step 6: In the popping up Add Custom Dictionary dialog box, browse and select your custom dictionary, and click Open button.

Step 7: After clicking Open button in the former step, you can see the new custom dictionary is added to the dialog box. Please click the OK buttons in the following dialogs to finish the settings.

Now your custom dictionary is added to the Microsoft Outlook 2010/2013.


Add A Custom Dictionary In Outlook 2007

In the classic view of Microsoft Outlook 2007, you can add your custom dictionaries as following:

Step 1: Click the Tools menu, and then click the Options item in the drop down list.

Step 2: In the Options dialog box, click the Spelling and AutoCorrection button under the Spelling tab.

Step 3: Then you will get into the Editor Options dialog box, you can add your custom dictionaries with same steps as that we talked above. Click to view those steps.

Edit And Remove Your Custom Dictionaries

By the way, in the Custom Dictionaries dialog box, you can remove your custom dictionary with selecting the dictionary in the dictionary list, and then click the Removebutton.

And in the Custom Dictionaries dialog box you can edit your custom dictionary with the Edit Word List button after you selecting it in the Dictionary List.
